The Original vs. The Reissue
A worn original and a pristine modern reissue, side by side. Which one actually gets you closer to the music?
The original carries the authority of being first, and the scars of forty years of play. The reissue offers a quiet surface and a fresh cut — but from what source, and mastered by whose hand?
The answer, as ever, is less about age than about care. A lovingly remastered reissue can outshine a tired original. And a great original, kept well, can still stop a room.
